Clerestory: the page renters book from, with a month of availability, member pricing and extras.

Check Cherry is booking and business software for event professionals that also markets hall and facility rental to churches, non-profits, clubs and lodges. On 21 October 2026 we read Check Cherry's own pricing, rental and help pages and compared them row by row with Clerestory's venue rentals.

Most comparison pages are written by the company that wants to win, and this one is too. So here is how we have tried to make it worth reading: every claim about Check Cherry below is quoted from Check Cherry's own website or help center, with the date we read it. Where Check Cherry does something we do not, we say so plainly, and where it costs less, we show the numbers.

What each one is

Check Cherry describes itself as "an all-in-one booking and business management platform built specifically for event professionals: DJs, photo booth operators, photographers, videographers, mobile bartenders, and similar service providers" (Check Cherry). It also has pages for church and non-profit facility rental and for club and lodge hall rental, with member and public rates, deposits and online rental agreements (Check Cherry, Check Cherry).

Clerestory is a supporter CRM and payments platform for non-profits. Venue rentals is one part of it, beside memberships and dues, donations, events, auctions, raffles, classes, admission and the gift shop, all in the same account. It is built for a non-profit that owns a building and rents out its rooms, and also has members and donors to look after.

How much does Check Cherry cost?

Check Cherry publishes its prices. On annual billing, Standard is $29 a month ($348 billed annually), Growth is $59 a month ($708) and Unlimited is $139 a month ($1,668). Billed monthly, "Plans start at $39/month with both monthly and discounted annual options." Plans are sized by bookings: Standard includes "30 Upcoming Bookings", Growth 100 and Unlimited unlimited, and "Only confirmed bookings with future dates count toward your plan limit." (Check Cherry, Check Cherry).

Card processing is on top of the subscription. Check Cherry's plan comparison lists "Accept any major credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay" at "2.9% + 30¢ USD" on every plan, and its FAQ says "Payment processing fees are charged per transaction, separate from your subscription." (Check Cherry).

On the contract: "Cancel anytime. No long-term contracts, no cancellation fees.", with a refund if you are not happy within the first 60 days (Check Cherry).

What does Clerestory cost for rentals?

Our platform fee is 3% per successful transaction, and on rentals it is capped at $5 a charge. Each rental date is its own charge, so a $100 meeting pays $3, and a $500 party or a $2,000 wedding pays $5. A security deposit taken as a payment is a separate charge, capped the same way. There is no subscription, no license fee, no per-seat pricing, no booking limits and no contract. If you refund a payment, our fee comes back with it.

Card processing is a separate fee, charged by Stripe on your organization's own Stripe account. Stripe's standard US card rate is 2.9% + 30¢, the same as Check Cherry's. Stripe's lower non-profit rate requires at least 80% of your Stripe payment volume to come from tax-deductible donations, and rental payments are not donations, so this page assumes the standard rate on both.

One more difference: on memberships, tickets and donations, Clerestory supporters can choose to cover both fees at checkout. That option is not offered to renters, so on a rental your organization pays both fees.

What rentals cost on each, by volume

With card processing at 2.9% + 30¢ on both, the processing cost is the same either way, so the difference is Clerestory's capped fee against Check Cherry's subscription. Deposits are left out.

Rental dates a yearClerestory platform fee (3%, capped at $5 a date)Check Cherry subscriptionCard processing, on both
25 dates at $150 ($3,750)$113$348 (Standard, annual)$109
50 dates at $500 ($25,000)$250$348 (Standard, annual)$725
50 dates at $2,000 ($100,000)$250$348 (Standard, annual)$2,900
100 dates at $500 ($50,000)$500$348 on Standard, or $708 on Growth if you hold more than 30 upcoming bookings$1,450

Clerestory costs less up to about 70 rental dates a year against Check Cherry's Standard plan billed annually, and up to about 140 against Growth, whatever each date costs. Under $167 a date the cap does not apply and the 3% does, and Clerestory costs less up to about $11,600 a year in rental payments against Standard. A busy room booked more often than that costs less on Check Cherry.

Read the right-hand column carefully. "Not documented" does not mean Check Cherry cannot do it. It means we read the Check Cherry pages listed under How we checked on 21 October 2026 and did not find it. If something exists and we missed it, tell us and we will correct this page.

Read the "No" rows in our column as carefully as the others. Check Cherry syncs both ways with Google, Apple and Outlook calendars, gives renters a portal login, and sends text reminders. Clerestory does none of those. On member rates, rooms, add-ons, approvals, agreements, deposits, payment schedules, offline payments and QuickBooks, both products do the job.

Where Check Cherry is stronger

A very busy room costs less. Above about 70 rental dates a year, Check Cherry's Standard plan billed annually costs less than Clerestory's capped fee, as long as you hold no more than 30 upcoming bookings at a time. On Growth, the point is about 140 dates a year.

Calendar sync and a renter portal. Check Cherry documents two-way sync with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook, and a client portal where renters log in. Clerestory's bookings live on its own rental calendar, and renters use an emailed booking link.

Built for running bookings as a business. Check Cherry also documents text reminders, sales tax that it says will "Automatically calculate the right sales tax with each booking", and, in its words, "native iOS and Android apps" (Check Cherry).

Where Clerestory goes further

Never more than $5 a date. A wedding pays the same $5 platform fee as a $200 meeting, with no subscription and nothing in a quiet month. For most halls, that costs less than any Check Cherry plan.

Rentals beside everything else a non-profit does. A renter is on the same records as your members and donors, and the same account runs your memberships, dues, events, the gala auction and raffle, classes, the gift shop and donations. With Check Cherry, those live in another system.

Built for halls that come apart. Combined rooms in Clerestory hold every space they are made of, so the Whole Hall and Hall A can never be booked at the same time, setup and cleanup included.

Insurance and weekly renters. Renters upload a certificate of insurance from their booking link for staff to accept or reject, and a choir or class can request a whole weekly series at once. We did not find either documented for Check Cherry.

Separate entities and clean giving reports. Each building can sit under its own legal entity with its own Stripe account and QuickBooks class, and rental income never counts toward giving or appears on a tax receipt.

No booking limits. There is no cap on upcoming bookings and no plan to upgrade.

Which is the better fit?

If renting out space is the main thing you need software for, a room is booked more than about 70 times a year, and you want your bookings in Google Calendar or Outlook, Check Cherry may cost less and fit better. We would not tell you otherwise.

For most non-profit halls, Clerestory costs less, at $5 a date at most, and it runs the organization around the building too: the members who get a lower rate, the donors, the gala, the classes and the gift shop, in the same place as the rentals, on your own Stripe account, with each fee on its own line.

How we checked

On 21 October 2026 we read Check Cherry's pricing page, its church and non-profit facility rental page, its club and lodge hall rental page, its features page and its help article on the client portal. Every quote on this page was checked word for word against the live page in a browser on that date, and each row links to the page it quotes. We also read Stripe's page on its non-profit discount. We did not use G2, Capterra or any comparison site. The cost table uses Check Cherry's published plan prices and card rate, and assumes Stripe's standard card rate for Clerestory, which is the same. It leaves out deposits.

Where a row says "Not documented", these are the capabilities we looked for on those pages and did not find: combined rooms, renter insurance certificates, weekly repeating bookings, separate legal entities, and donor or membership management. Screenshots labeled Clerestory are from a Clerestory demo organization with test data. Documentation moves and products change. If anything here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Clerestory a good Check Cherry alternative for a non-profit hall?

For a non-profit that rents out its rooms and also has members and donors, yes. Clerestory runs rentals with member and non-profit rates, deposits, online agreements, insurance certificates and weekly bookings in the same account as memberships, events and donations, with a platform fee capped at $5 a rental date. Check Cherry offers calendar sync and a renter portal that Clerestory does not.

How much does Check Cherry cost?

As of 21 October 2026, Check Cherry's Standard plan is $29 a month billed annually ($348), Growth is $59 ($708) and Unlimited is $139 ($1,668), with plans from $39 a month on monthly billing. Card processing is 2.9% + 30¢ per payment, on top of the subscription. Standard includes 30 upcoming bookings.

How much does Clerestory cost for venue rentals?

Clerestory's platform fee is 3% of each rental charge, capped at $5 a charge, so a rental date never carries more than $5 of platform fee. There is no subscription, license or contract. Card processing is a separate Stripe fee on the organization's own Stripe account, at Stripe's standard 2.9% + 30¢ unless the account qualifies for Stripe's non-profit rate. Renters are not offered the option to cover the fees.

Which costs less for hall rentals, Check Cherry or Clerestory?

With card processing the same on both, Clerestory costs less up to about 70 rental dates a year against Check Cherry's Standard plan billed annually, and up to about 140 against Growth. Above that, Check Cherry costs less.

Does Clerestory sync rentals with Google Calendar?

No. Clerestory's rental bookings live on its own calendar, with a week view for each building, a month view for each room and a Today schedule. As of 21 October 2026 Check Cherry documents two-way sync with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook.
