Events in Clerestory now have offer codes and presales, and member benefits that apply themselves at checkout. Your members see what they save before they scroll, and everyone else gets a code only when you want them to.

Offer codes for events

Create a code under Events, Offer Codes, or on the event's own Offer Codes tab. Each code gives one of three discounts:

  • Percent off, such as 20% off.
  • Amount off, such as $10 off each ticket.
  • Fixed price, such as every ticket for $25.

Choose whether a code applies to all tickets for this event, including any you add later, or only to specific ticket types. Limit how many orders can use it, or leave it unlimited, and set the dates it is valid from and until. Add an internal note that only your team can see, and optionally link the code to a campaign.

Once a code has been used it cannot be edited, only archived, so your reporting always matches what donors were actually offered.

Presales, with or without a discount

Tick Unlocks tickets before general sale and anyone with the code can book as soon as the code is valid, before the event's on-sale time. A presale code can carry a discount or none at all. It is the simplest way to give sponsors, volunteers or a partner organization first access.

What the buyer sees

The code field appears only on events that have a live code, never cluttering the rest. Before general sale, the page invites anyone with a presale code to enter it and book. Once a code is applied, each ticket shows its regular price struck through beside the new one, and any early-bird price is discounted too. An invalid or expired code gets one clear message, without revealing why.

Member pricing that applies itself

On each event's Member Benefits tab, set what each membership level gets:

  • Free items, such as two free tickets for a Family member.
  • A percentage discount.
  • A fixed discount in dollars.

Each benefit can apply to tickets or to add-ons, with a maximum quantity or none. Members are recognized by their email address, including people on a shared household membership, and their benefits are applied at checkout with a welcome that names their level. Free tickets show how many remain, members can buy more at the regular price, and the cap counts across everything that membership has already booked for the event, so benefits are not claimed twice.

Member early access

Turn on Early ticket access for a level and its members can buy before the event's general on-sale, from the time you choose. They verify their email to get in, so the presale stays theirs.

The member offer, up front

The top of every event page now shows the lowest ticket price, when tickets go on sale, and what members get, such as "Members save on tickets" or "Free for members", with the member presale and public sale dates when there is one. It is a reason to join, shown at the moment someone is deciding.

A code and a member discount never stack. On the tickets a code covers, the code wins.

And more for events

  • Sponsorships that include tickets, with the included seats covered first.
  • Add-ons attached to each ticket or sponsorship, such as a program advertisement.
  • Sponsor logos given equal space in each level and sized by tier.
  • Clone event, to copy an event's whole setup, without its registrations, as a new draft.
  • Change ticket type for an attendee after they have booked.
  • A sortable events list showing every event.

What it does not do

Event codes are for event tickets. They do not apply to classes, dues or donations, and membership codes are separate. There is no per-person limit on an event code beyond the total number of orders, and there are no member-only ticket types: members and non-members buy the same tickets, and members simply pay their member price.

What it costs

Nothing extra. Offer codes and member benefits are part of every Clerestory account.

Frequently asked questions

Can a non-profit create discount codes for event tickets?

Yes. In Clerestory, an event offer code can take a percentage off, an amount off each ticket, or set a fixed price, and can apply to all tickets for the event or only to specific ticket types. Each code can be limited to a number of orders or left unlimited, and given dates it is valid from and until.

How do I run a ticket presale for sponsors or volunteers?

In Clerestory, tick "Unlocks tickets before general sale" on an event offer code, and anyone with the code can book as soon as the code is valid, before the event's on-sale time. A presale code can carry a discount or none at all.

Can members automatically get discounted or free event tickets?

Yes. On each event's Member Benefits tab, Clerestory lets you give each membership level free items, a percentage discount or a fixed dollar discount on tickets or add-ons. Members are recognized by their email address, including people on a shared household membership, and their benefits are applied at checkout.

Can members buy event tickets before the general public?

Yes. Turn on Early ticket access for a membership level in Clerestory and its members can buy before the event's general on-sale, from the time you choose. They verify their email to get in, so the presale stays theirs.

Do event offer codes stack with member discounts in Clerestory?

No. In Clerestory, a code and a member discount never stack; on the tickets a code covers, the code wins.

Do Clerestory event offer codes work for classes, dues or donations?
